FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this? Is it a ROM Hack?

  • This is a 2D PvP oriented action platformer fan game of the Mega Man franchise; it is not an official game from Capcom. In here, you can play against other players online or CPU enemies offiline, using iconic characters of the Mega Man X series in battlefields made from the original stages of the games, with several different game modes to experience.
  • This is not a ROM Hack. It's a desktop application which you have to download and run in order to play the game.

How do I download, play or update?

  • Go to Download, then click on the link and download the file; then follow the installation steps. Install updates on a separate, empty folder.

What OS is supported? What are the minimum/recommended system requirements? Does this game work for Mobile?

  • Currently, only Windows 7 and above are supported.
  • A GPU/CPU from at least 2008 is enough to run the game.
  • Mobile is not supported, and will likely never be.

Problems when attempting to play

  1. My game crashes often.
    • The Community Edition is still under development, so problems are bound to pop up here and there. Please report your crashes and bugs in our Discord so it helps the developers' work.
  2. Can't enter a match, shows a {{Failed}} {{to}} {{holepunch}} error instead.
    • It's a common server problem. Keep trying to enter the match until you do, and it should be enough. If the error persists, seek help in our Discord from a developer.
  3. Can't enter a match, shows a {{Different}} {{checksum}} error instead.
    • It's a common server problem. Keep trying to enter the match until you do, and it should be enough. If the error persists, seek help in our Discord from a developer.

How do I do/use this/that in-game?

I'm an old player; why is this version so different? Where's Gamemaker19?

  • The original game finished development in May 2023, on version 19.12, which was also the time when the official servers stopped being supported; this left the players with only one possibility of playing online: using RadminVPN to simulate LAN.
  • New developers, most notably Gacel, went and made a new version of the game which made playing online easy again, bringing along a lot of quality of life changes to the game. This new version is called the Community Edition.
  • As for GM19, he moved on with his life after finishing the game, and is no longer here.

How do I install mods or custom maps?

  • For visual and sound mods, be sure to replace the contents in the right folder; if you can't figure out where, ask the mod's creator for instructions. For custom maps, simply place them in "assets/maps_custom".
  • For mods that change gameplay/code, you need to install them in a separate, empty folder.
  • To find modifications and custom maps for download, check out Community/Mods.

How do I make my own mods/maps?

Can I access the source code? How can I help with development?

  • The source code of the Community Edition can be found here; feel free to edit it for your own version.
  • You can contact Gacel on our Discord if you need help with it or want to help in CE development.
