Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch is an online multiplayer, PvP oriented Mega Man X Fangame! Battle against your friends in a variety of game modes, such as Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and King of the Hill, playing as the most iconic characters from the Mega Man X Series!
Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch is currently in a playable state, with the latest update being the Sigma Update: Part 3, which added the remaining content of Sigma in the 16-bit Trilogy, along with new content for the rest of the characters.
The official servers were shutdown after the game ended development in May 2023, but it's still possible to play online via LAN play using programs like RadminVPN. However, with the lack of official servers and updates, the community's activity began to deplete, spreading out to other smaller Discord servers, slowly fading into non-interactivity. As Gamemaker19 retired and removed all the Discord's invite links from his social media, new players became a rare occurance.
As the game's source code and any related content became open source, a group of developers, most notably Gacel, aimed to revive the online multiplayer experience of Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch without any other external program rather than the game itself, implementing P2P, allowing serverless online play.
As the project grew in ambition, the devs started adding features such as wide screen, improved physics system and revamped UI, not to mention a gigantic amount of bug fixes. All of that contributing to make the game look and feel closer to a true Mega Man X experience.
Now the project aims to be a full rewrite of the old Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch engine, with far more maintainable, scalable and optimized code, for community members to make their own mods and content way easier than before. That's how the Community Edition was brought to life!
Feel free to Download the game and test it. You can also join our Discord Server to find other players or report any bugs you encounter. Lastly, if you wish to contribute to the project directly, try the Github Repository. Have a nice run!
